Job Description

The Gardener is to tend to the gardens on property as well as assist in maintaining all areas on and around the premises, cleaning the heart of house area including the garbage area, the staff accommodation gardens and buildings, guest vehicles and pathways.

KEY FOCUS AREAS
  • Perform work assignments as directed, accurately, in a timely manner and according to identified priorities, such as grounds maintenance, gardening and landscaping, and cleaning.
  • Propagate softwood cuttings, germinate vegetable seeds, make compost, prune roses and shrubs, handle pests, improve and cultivate soil, repair lawns, water the plants, and make optimal use of pesticides and fertilizers where required.
  • Keep, store and utilize plants and seeds properly and according to seasons, making sure that the used soil is of the right quality and condition.
  • Follow the procedures and systems of the preventative maintenance programme and all maintenance and gardens checklists.
  • Teach your specific skills (if any) to other Gardens and Maintenance team members.
  • Propose ideas regarding the improvement of gardens and landscaping to management.
  • Perform Maintenance duties according to company standards if required.

REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Knowledge on the applicable / relevant property and company procedures for Maintenance and Gardens.
  • Good knowledge on gardening, plants, and seeds.
  • In depth knowledge of all cleaning products and chemicals/fertilizers used.
  • Knowledge on the operation of different tools, equipment, and appliances.
  • Knowledge on landscaping advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge on stock take procedures and stock control.
  • Basic knowledge of all MORE properties and all activities offered.
  • Basic knowledge of all departments/operations of your property.
  • Excellent attention to detail, excellent hygiene principles.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal), practicing honest communication.
  • Team player with positive attitude, enthusiasm and emotional control.
  • Excellent time management and self-discipline.

  • Valid Driver's licence.
